My son has the mumps. He has been very brave and is now starting to recover.
The public sector sometimes gets a bad reputation for helping its citizens (especially if you read ‘The Daily Mail’ / ‘The Daily Express’). But we (especially Dylan), as a family, have been served well.
The 111 service that we called early Saturday morning (which, apparently, has massive delays?) got him to see a GP within one hour. The blood test he now requires was booked pretty seamlessly via an online service and will be undertaken this week.
We knock it, and it isn’t perfect, but digitisation is there and is making a significant contribution to more effective services. With further strides ‘gov.uk‘ are making, hopefully, it can only get better.
(By the way, the newspapers I noted above, I don’t read them!)
